Black Friday is on Friday November 26 and many people may wish to take advantage of the plethora of sales that will be going on to ensure they can get the best deals on gifts and save some money, but with all the discounts out there it may be hard to figure out where to start. However, Express.co.uk spoke exclusively with style savvy content creator Josephine’s Looks who shared her tips for clever and conscious shopping ahead of Black Friday.
She stressed the importance of taking advantage of Black Friday and Cyber Monday to get the best deals for items on one’s shopping list.
Josephine added: “Make sure you do your research before.
“I always check out online reviews and prices for different brands first, so I have a clear idea of what I want beforehand.”
Furthermore, to help make gift giving easier this Christmas season, she suggests that people should make use of online wish lists.
She said: “Shopping apps like LTK allow you to favourite items you’re eyeing up, compiling them in a handy wish list.
“If you know exactly what you’re looking for, you can focus your energy on finding the best prices.
“The app includes features that will help with saving, such as the search feature, which can help you find gifts at any price range effortlessly.”
Additionally, if someone is planning to splash some cash on big purchases, it is worth checking whether they could be getting something back in the process.
Cashback sites Quidco and Topcashback both offer deals at more than 4,000 retailers – and it’s free to sign up.
However, Britons are warned to not let the cashback lure them into buying a poor-value product. Cashback should be a bonus, rather than using it as your starting point for deciding what to buy and where from.
An easy way to boost cashback is to pay with a credit card that rewards people for their spending, whether that’s in air miles, retail vouchers or money off your credit card statement.
Britons should always remember to try and pay the balance off in full each month to avoid interest charges.
Lastly, Britons should look at the price, and not the saving.
People should not assume that a deal is worth it just because it claims to offer a big saving. Offers such as ‘was £100, now £50’ often exaggerate the discount people are actually getting.
