However, Ms Burns is ultimately hopeful there will be a structured form of support for those who need it most.
She concluded: “I think lenders should be speaking to clients if they approach, and discussing alternative circumstances, explaining these fully so people understand what is on offer.
“And lenders are likely to work with borrowers to see what suits best.
“You could save up some money during a freeze to then make a certain amount of overpayments later down the line, and I do believe they would allow that.
