Monday, August 31 is a bank holiday and will give many Brits a three-day weekend. This is the last bank holiday before Christmas for England and Wales, with Christmas Day and Boxing Day the last bank holidays of the year.
Monday is also the last day of Eat Out to Help Out, so many Brits will be taking the time to enjoy a meal out for half price.
Some restaurants are continuing the scheme past the bank holiday, check Express.co.uk’s list of locations here.
As with most bank holidays, businesses and shops may have shorter opening hours or be closed entirely.
But if you need to send a letter or collect a parcel, when will the Post Office be open this weekend?
What’s the weather like this bank holiday?
For those hoping for a bank holiday barbecue that may be off the cards, as cold and rainy weather is on the way this weekend.
Storm Francis has left unsettled conditions in its wake, with temperatures rather cool for the end of August.
Chief Meteorologist at the Met Office, Frank Saunders, said: “We’ve seen a real mix of weather this August – with a heatwave earlier this month and in the last week we’ve had two named storms bringing very wet and windy weather across the country.
“With high pressure on the way this weekend we’re going to end the month with much more settled weather, with plenty of late summer sunshine for many.
“It’ll be a dry weekend for most areas too, though eastern areas can expect a few heavy showers on Saturday.”
Mr Saunders said of the temperatures: “It’ll feel quite cool despite the sunshine, as northerly winds bring below average temperatures for the time of year with highs of around 16 to 18 Celsius.
“At night it’ll feel really quite chilly, with temperatures dropping to single figures for most, and a chance of air frost in Scottish glens.”
