Bank holiday opening hours: What time are Tesco, Lidl, Asda and Aldi open?

The August bank holiday weekend is the last one before Christmas. The forecast predicts mild weather for the weekend, meaning people will likely be enjoying quality time with their family and friends. If you are opting for a cookout indoors, however, you will need to stock up on food and drinks before the supermarkets close. has compiled supermarket opening times for this bank holiday weekend.

Tesco opening hours will largely depend on the size of the store you are visiting.

Some Tesco superstores are operating reduced opening hours this weekend, and will be open from 8am to 6pm, rather than the usual 8am to 10pm.

Most smaller Tesco Express stores will still be open during their normal times, which vary from store to store, although are usually between 6am and 11pm.

Most Aldi stores will be open on Saturday and Sunday, deepening on where you are.

This means most sites will be open from 8am to 10pm on Saturday, and 10am to 4pm on Sunday.

On bank holiday Monday, most branches will be open from 8am to 8pm.

Sainsbury’s stores will be open as usual on Saturday and Sunday, which for most branches means between 7am and 10pm on Saturday.

On Sunday, sites will be open from 10.30am to 4.30pm.

Sainsbury’s Local stores have longer opening hours – usually between the hours of 7am and 11pm.

This will be the same on bank holiday Monday, while most bigger stores will open from 8am to 5.30pm.
